Back by popular demand, “Coil-Building the Seated Figure” will be held over two consecutive Saturdays. This is a hands-on Zoom workshop full of demonstrations and presentations to guide you in building a 1/2 life-size seated figure. The hours are 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. Pacific Time each day. Between morning and afternoon sessions, participants have a two-hour break to work independently in their studios, and the week between sessions to make progress on their pieces. Back by popular demand! “Wax Encaustic on Ceramic Sculpture” - In this two-hour Zoom workshop, Adrian will go over how she has made and used wax encaustic on her ceramic sculpture over the past 30 years. Through discussion, video demonstrations, and a slide presentation, participants will gain an understanding of many different ways encaustic can be used on a variety of ceramic surfaces. This is a demonstration and lecture workshop, not a hands-on class. Please contact Adrian to be added to the wait list.
DECEMBER 10 - 11, 2022
“Coil-Building the Wall Bust; Focus on the Face” This remote, hands-on, intensive workshop will be held Saturday and Sunday, December 10 - 11 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. Pacific Time each day, and will be chock-full of useful information on coil-building a life-size head with partial shoulders to mount on the wall. The focus will be on rendering the face, giving special attention to the anatomy of the features. We’ll look at how underlying musculature, volume and planes of the face tie into one another, and how making subtle changes can add youthfulness, age, and character to the piece. Playing with the angle of how the head is positioned on the wall will add new perspectives to the over-all impact and narrative of the piece. Please contact Adrian to be added to a wait list.
