“Coil-Building the Wall Bust; Focus on the Face” This hands-on, intensive Zoom workshop will be held Saturday and Sunday, December 10 - 11 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. Pacific Time each day, and will be chock-full of useful information on coil-building a life-size head with partial shoulders to mount on the wall. The focus will be on rendering the face, giving special attention to the anatomy of the features. We’ll look at how underlying musculature, volume and planes of the face tie into one another, and how making subtle changes can add youthfulness, age, and character to the piece. Playing with the angle of how the head is positioned on the wall will add new perspectives to the overall impact and narrative of the piece. Please contact Adrian to be added to a waitlist.
“Coil-Building Animal Imagery in Ceramic Sculpture” This hands-on intensive weekend Zoom workshop is full of useful information on coil-building a medium-size animal figure. Techniques taught can be applied to large-scale work. Participants choose a seated, standing, or reclined animal form. Adrian will show different approaches for all three options. Time-lapsed video and slide presentations will convey large amounts of information in a condensed format, and will be enriched by live demonstrations addressing key details and participants’ needs. The days will consist of a morning session (10 am - 12 pm Pacific time) and an afternoon session (2 pm - 4 pm) with a two-hour break in the middle (12 pm - 2 pm) for working independently in your own studio. Adrian will be available for help during the break. Please contact Adrian to be added to a waitlist.
